Periodically, we are required by statute to conduct training activities for various employee groups, and in some instances, all staff. We usually try to accomplish this by having training sessions during opening week. This generally works out fairly well but we always miss someone and in the case of new hires, they may not be on board yet. It is always problematic to get this training accomplished for new employees who come on board mid –year.
In the interest of efficiency and convenience as well as to get with the 21st century in terms of technology, we have arranged to put much of this training on-line. The system is called Claritynet.
There are numerous courses available through Claritynet. Not all of these are statutory requirements, but all could be beneficial to staff based upon their work assignment. We have consulted with our directors and determined which courses are most appropriate for various employee groups. Employees can check out the recommended (some required) courses that the directors feel are appropriate.
The teachers’ Relicensure Committee has agreed that one clock hour of continuing education credit will be granted for each inservice completed online. After completion of training, the employee can print off a certificate for verification. Please call Rose Lentsch at (952) 707-3082 if you have questions regarding these continuing ed credits.
Attached are step-by-step instructions for accessing Claritynet. You may do this from a district computer or, if you would like, you can access Claritynet from home or any other computer. If you choose to take a Claritynet course outside of normal work hours, it will be on your own time and will not be eligible for timesheet payment.
Every staff member is required to complete Sexual Harassment and Blood Borne Pathogens. These courses must be completed by October 1, 2012. In addition, your supervisor may have assigned you additional courses that pertain to your job.
I hope you find these courses beneficial. If you have any technical questions, please call Cory Langenfeld at 651-423-8290 or Linda Berg at 651-423-8214, and they will be able to assist you.
