Program Description:
IDEA is an academic program that helps students with emotional or behavioral disabilities develop appropriate skills so they can function in regular classroom setting.
Modes of instruction used with learners in the program vary dependent on individual student needs and the determination made with parents through the IEP process. Students participate in general education classes at their home school, their setting III School, or the Dakota County Technical College as appropriate.
Model of Service Delivery:
Classrooms are available for students identified with emotional or behavioral disabilities in grades K-12. The setting IV classrooms are available for grades K-12 at Alliance Education Center in Rosemount, and grades 9-12 at Farmington IDEA in Farmington and Apple Valley IDEA in Apple Valley. The setting III IDEA classroom for grades K-5 is located in Inver Grove Heights at Pine Bend Elementary, the middle school classroom for grades 6-8 is in Lakeville at McGuire Middle School, and the high school classroom for grades 9-12 is in Lakeville at Lakeville North High School.
Services Provided:
Related and support services in the areas of speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, autism and mental health are provided as needed.
