Program Description:
This program is available for students identified with a need for therapeutic interventions that enable them to more successfully access their educational opportunities. The Setting IV classroom for students in grades 5-8 is located in at Friendly Hills Middle School in Mendota Heights.
The three core goals for students enrolled in the program include:
a) Calming the brain- stress and anxiety limit an individual’s capacity to take in and integrate new information, worsens mental health symptoms and impacts relationships negatively.
b) Connecting with the brain- many individuals who experience mental health struggles feel cut off and isolated from others; often as a result of feeling very out-of-synch with their world.
c) Enhancing the brain- skills deficits may impair their ability to read the intentions of others, make sense of the information that their environment provides them and to communicate their needs and wants in a socially successful manner.
Model of Service Delivery: Accomplishment factors will work to develop a sense of achievement while developing underlying skills:
1. Cognitive tasks and achievements
