2020 Open Enrollment

What is Open Enrollment?

Open enrollment is the time period each year when eligible employees can enroll or make changes to their current elections in our medical, dental, or supplemental/dependent life insurance plans, and enroll/re-enroll in the flexible spending plans. Employees must also elect a new annual contribution to their Health Savings Account (HSA) as prior elections will not carry over.  This year, Open Enrollment is scheduled for November 4 through November 18, 2019.  Changes made during open enrollment are effective January 1, 2020.

Important Notes:

  • If you already have benefits coverage through Intermediate School District 917 (or do not have benefits through the district), your selections will automatically be rolled over to the new benefits year.
    • The only exception is with of Flex Spending Accounts (medical and dependent care) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA).  You MUST enroll/update these plans annually during Open Enrollment to make an employee contribution to your account.
      • Employer contribution to your HSA will continue into the next plan year, only the employee amount needs to be re-elected for 2020.
  • If you are a new hire with benefits effective 11/1/19 through the end of 2019, you will have to select your new hire benefits for 2019 and then go back in the system to make your open enrollment elections for January 1st, 2020.
