DCALS Enrollment Process

HOW*: Students enroll by attending a meeting with the Enrollment Coordinator, Patti Mattos or the School Counselor, John Pereda. A parent or guardian must accompany the student if he/she is not 18 years old. To begin the enrollment process, please click the Online Enrollment Form link below to fill out and submit. 
*If the student has an Individual Education Plan (IEP), the Special Education staff will request records first, and then contact student/parent to schedule a team meeting.

WHEN: Meetings are scheduled to coincide with the start dates of each new mod throughout the year. 
Group enrollment dates and times are posted below. If you cannot attend the group meeting, you will be contacted to schedule an individual meeting.

WHERE: Meetings are held at the DCTC building (1300 145th St. East, Rosemount,MN 55068) in the DCALS Student Services office, room 2-405 located at the top of the steps in the East Commons and begin at 6 p.m. Park in the East parking lot and enter through the east doors (#15 or 17).

If you are interested in enrollment for the 2018/2019 school year, please click the link above and submit the enrollment form. Choose a meeting date on that form. An individual meeting may be scheduled if the group meeting date does not work.

 Credit Options

Regular School Day: The school day begins at 7:40 am and ends at 2:15 pm, and is a 5 period day with periods 1 through 4 running 75 minutes in length and period 5 is 35 minutes.

Students schedule for new classes each Quarter (1-4) and receive grades/credit every Mod (1-12) which is approximately every 3 weeks.

Total credit possible with passing grades in every class for one school year is 108 mod credits = 27 trimester credits or 18 semester credits.

Independent Study (IS): Work is completed independently through a combination of written work and online with a credit recovery program – Odysseyware. Each course is a semester credit upon successful completion. Courses can be modified.

Many paper and pencil options are also available from subject area teachers. Students ask for IS work to supplement a full or modified class schedule. (Any version of IS requires seat time within the building.)

Project Based Learning: Students design and propose projects to teachers. The subject area teacher works with the proposal and credit is awarded upon completion.

Credit Transfer Form   To be used by counselors from students' high school of residence.
