MVTA busThree students from the DCTC TESA program experience Travel Training through Metro Valley Transit Authority (MVTA).  Students experienced being picked up at on bus stations getting a transfer slip and taking another bus back to their original destination.  Students received direct instruction from awesome MVTA Travel Training staff, were able to ask questions, get help loading the travel planning app., and learned how the MVTA bus system works.

MVTA serves several of the fastest growing counties in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. The need for a robust public transit system is key to our region’s quality of life and economic vitality. It is crucial that MVTA is able to serve their communities with care, understanding, and knowledge. The Travel Training program, involving marketing, resources, and employment to support ADA and inclusivity initiatives is essential. The Travel Training program operates under the belief that transit is for everyone.

Thanks to our close relationship with MVTA, DCTC TESA students will have additional travel training opportunities throughout the school year.  Travel training of DCTC students started last school year, and it is the hope of the WBL program that it can continue in the years to come.
